In this episode of the Wrestling Mindset Podcast, Gene Zannetti talks with Kansas state champion Brogan Monly about coming back to Wrestling Mindset in the middle of his senior season after early losses he had no business taking.
Brogan started mindset training in seventh grade, quit during high school, and returned after a rocky start to his final year. He explains how making the moment too big led him to wrestle not to lose instead of wrestling to win, and describes the phone call with Coach Tillman the night of his worst loss, a 15 to 4 defeat to a wrestler he should have beaten, that turned his whole season around.
He walks through a state final where he was down 7 to 5 with 30 seconds left, got off bottom, and scored to win, and through a rivalry he wrestled seven times in high school after a classification change put them in the same bracket. He says Wrestling Mindset made a night and day difference, leaving him more aggressive, more relaxed, and having more fun. He heads to Division 2 Colorado State Pueblo with the goal of making the lineup and becoming a national qualifier.
